How to Clean Clay, Dirt, Grass, etc out of Softball / Baseball pants.. White or Color!

How to Clean Clay, Dirt, Grass, etc out of Softball / Baseball pants.. White or Color!

The hardest thing to clean is the clay in uniforms. Here’s My Tips.

• NEVER use HOT or Warm water or put in the dryer. Cold water wash only. Hang to dry. No Fabric Softeners / Sheets.

STEP 1•After the game, throw that uniform in the washer to get out the Easy Stuff. The longer it sets, the harder to come clean. Cold water wash only! Use your regular detergent. No Bleach. No Fabric Softener. (Personally, I favor Gain original.) When finished, give the inspection. Now for the soaks.

STEP 2 WHITE •If the pants are WHITE. I use a product called “Iron Out”. I get it at Walmart in the toilet cleaner section. Yes, it is safe for fabric. But… *WARNING! It is in powder form and until it is constituted, it can be Toxic to inhale.

With that said, I LOVE this product. It whitens the white by removing the particles not by bleaching it. So if you have a Blue Nike check, it will stay Blue.

To use. I have two small buckets to soak sports clothes in. I grab a bucket, cover just the bottom in warm weather. I know I said not to use warm or hot but this is just to dissolve the product. I eyeball measure about 1/4 cup.. Careful not to inhale the powder. Dump in, I use an old toothbrush to mix until dissolved. Then add enough Cold water that will cover the pants, mix well. Once well mixed in, it is not toxic to your hands. Add the pants. Allow to sit overnight.

STEP 3 COLD WASH •I dump the entire thing in the washer, alone, the next day and do another cold wash just like the first step.

STEP 4 •Inspect again. Are they clean? If not, repeat Steps 2 and 3. If clean, go to Step 5.

STEP 5 •Hang to Dry. Admire your Clean Pants!

EXTRA TIP for WHITE *Really bad stains on WHITE, I rub in Dawn original then spray on hydrogen peroxide and rub it in good. Can use as a PreSoak. But you gotta use Elbow Grease on this one.

STEP 2 COLOR•If the pants are of COLOR. I have recently found Krud Kutter. It is fabric safe and color safe. Trust me, I put it to the tests first. I sprayed it all over an old blue shirt. No fading! But… Always try in an inconspicuous spot like the inside hem before using to ensure your color and fabric will endure. (For OCMS Lady Eagles Softball’s gray pants, I’ve already tested them. No fading.)

Krud Kutter comes in many forms and for many different uses. The one I found is at Walmart in the aisle next to the spray paint. With the outdoor cleaning products like window washing. It comes in a gallon and is concentrated.

Walmart sells these heavy duty sprayers. I added 3 ounces of Krud Kutter to 25 ounces of cool water. That formula is based on 11/2cups KK to 1 gallon water.

To use. After STEP 1, spray and rub in areas of concern. That’s it. Allow to soak.

And that’s how to get Softball / Baseball pants Clean. Enjoy! Go Eagles!!

Being a Teenager is Hard Work. Their Hormones are Raging, Have Mood Swings, High Energy then it Depletes, and Middle School can be Mind Challenging!

I have started her on the above vitamins one at a time to ensure there are no side effects. Take about a week before adding another vitamin.
We Started with Vitamin B9.
Then Vitamin C.

(Please note Vit C will clean the gut of impurities so there may be a few loose stools at first. Don’t start another new vitamin until stools resume normal.)
Then add Vitamin E.
Then Vitamin A.
Then start Vitamin B12, then B6 and B1.
We have yet to try to start her on these two. I will add Vit D3 then Zinc last. Be Aware Zinc has lots of Side Effects and may not want to add to your regime. Side effects include but not limited to nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, metal taste, and abdominal cramps.

The Happy Vitamin

Vitamin B6

It’s not the vitamin we hear a lot about. So is it really all that important? B6 is one of eight “B” vitamins. The B vitamins generally keep our bodies running like well oiled machines. They convert our food into fuel giving our bodies the energy it craves. But each “B” performs uniquely. This is about B6.

Vitamin B6, also known as pyridoxine, is a water soluble vitamin. That means it will dissolve in water. Now when we talk vitamins that is important to know. Why? Because your body cannot store extra water soluble vitamins. They will flush away in the kidneys. That means it is difficult to overdose on them, not impossible, but difficult. The body will flush away the extra.
Ever heard the expression, “You’re just flushing those vitamins down the toilet.” That’s why. Anything extra your body does not need goes to the kidneys. But, Hello! Isn’t that the Beautiful thing about it? So take your vitamins. 🙂

Vitamin B6 has special areas to give energy to.

Neurotransmitters-nerve fibers that carry your “brain’s command” from one cell to another

Serotonin-that little neurotransmitter that helps you control pain, sleep, mood, and Happiness 😊 So, yes, B6 makes you Happy. There you have it. But it does So Much More!

Norepinephrine- is the neurotransmitter that can be secreted like a hormone in response to stress. You’ve heard the “Flight or Fight” response. This guy. In doing this, it is trying to regulate your heart. Yes, you’ve got it. This one also helps avoid heart attacks. ❤️
Myelin Formation-The myelin is a fatty substance that covers our long nerve cells that are like wires through out our body. This fatty substance must be constantly replaced and repaired by the body in which the B6 helps with.
If there is an area along the nerve cell that the myelin has not been formed ( the fatty substance) then the signal the brain is sending is delayed. Do you know where this would cause concerns? Well, a hand on a hot stove for one example. Can’t get that response to move quick enough this person will get burned.
How about Diabetic Neuropathy? Yes. Diabetes is not a life sentence for everyone. With lifestyle changes, for some diabetes can be cured. But what about Multiple Sclerosis? Yes. This is also a case of depleting myelin formation. Of course MS is severe.
Yeah pretty important things there, huh? But B6 keeps going.
It is essential in protein metabolism. You know when the body breaks protein down into amino acids. Surely you know how important these are. They are 20 and to explain them will have to be for another day. But I will tell you problems with amino acids give you problems with your weight (weight loss or gain), hair, skin, sleep, mood, sexual, heart, muscles, joints, and menses. So eat your Proteins with B6!

Glucose Metabolism- Helps the Body turn any Sugars Consumed into Energy
Making of Hemoglobin- Its the part of the Red Blood Cells (blood) that carries oxygen (“air”) from the lungs to the rest of the body. Without oxygen the rest of the body would die.
And now the Biggies!
Brain Function!
If you haven’t already figured it out by helping neurotransmitters, B6 is also said to actually Boost Brain Performance including Memory. Yeah with Solid Studies on that one.

Save the Best for Last.
Vitamin B6 is can Cure Pregnancy Morning Sickness!

Sure wish I knew that one many years ago.

So talk to your Doc about taking Vitamin B6 or just grab it in these foods. Sunflower seeds, pistachio nuts, tuna steaks ( not canned tuna), turkey, chicken, pork chops, prunes, filet steak, ribeye, bananas, avocados, and cooked spinach. Remember! B6 makes you Happy! Enjoy!!

Momma, Me and Lil’ Green

Momma and I had Lil’ Green packed and ready to go. We had been planning a trip to the Amish Country since last Fall. Ah, you know, in Ohio’s Northeast Amish Area? Dear hubby and I had stopped through there with the children the year before on our way to Niagara Falls.

Yeah, that was a real nice trip. The Falls were great. Why, you can hear the water soon as you get in the city. We couldn’t figure out what in the world that noise was. And the mist, heck we thought it was just a bunch of fog that just kept a coming. Indeed, a fine trip.

When I had told Momma about the peace I felt passing through those Amish lands, well, we knew we had to go back. It’s kinda difficult for me to put into words, like a secret you tell in a hushed tone. It was similar to going back in time. You seen those old black and white photos of people standing on a porch? When the time must of felt to last forever. When things were simpler. When time was passed by the sweat of your own brow. It really gave me a big impression. And I was a wanting to feel like that again.

So, like I said, we had Lil’ Green packed up and ready to go. Lil’ Green, you see, she’s my car. She was only two months old at the time. Rolled her right out off the showroom floor with only eight miles on her. First and only New car we bought. How in the world I talked Dear Hubby into buying her, I don’t know. Oh, how I loved that car. I couldn’t wait to get her on her first big trip!

So, with Kisses given to each Family member, waves good-bye, Dropped off Kizzy, our Pup, at the Kennel and Away We Went!

As we sped through our well known roads across Kentucky, we talked about work, family and our health. Momma and I were both nurses that worked at the same place. Just like any other two women that get together, nothing was too sacred to gossip about. It feels Good to talk to someone that thinks like you do. Whom better than your own Mother? Why we was solving all the World’s problems traveling that day.

The day was a blur of places we were passing, Leitchfield, Elizabethtown, up through Louisville then on to Cincinnati. Just that piece of the trip was around 200 miles. Have to get most of the route behind us the First Day you know.

And Lord, how it stormed on us. The lightening flashed as the heavens just opened up and poured on us. Lil’ Green held her traction well. We just kept on trucking! Those Storms just beat on us as we steered through. We were determined to get to Coshocton before we got Washed Away. I was a telling Momma about Coshocton being an old Indian town…when..

..when Momma Screamed Out…
IT’S A DEER!

Brakes..Sliding on the Wet Asphalt..CRASH . .. …

It was like a Bad Dream. Disbelief. Playing over in my mind. This didn’t happen .. as I quickly pulled out of the road. I had to see. What does Lil’ Green look like? I was in Shock. I flung the door open. I hurried to catch a glimpse.  I must have been standing there with my mouth open. I notice Momma and she was looking back at me with a ‘Is it THAT bad?’ expression as she had not yet made it out of the car.

“The first ding is the worst.” Momma said matter of factly as she got out of her seat.

Whoosh!
I came back. .. . Rushed back.

It was Real.

But We are Safe.

Everything will be ok.

After that, we had to get settled in for the night.

The Next Day
Now, why would two Women travel almost Six hours away just to catch a glimpse of People that are Known to Pull Away from Society? I don’t know either. But we sure were excited about it!

We woke with our hearts racing realizing where we were, we hurried our showers, gobbled down our biscuits and gravy, jumped in now banged up Lil’ Green with Big Plans to See Everything.

After phone calls back home the night before to Dear Hubby and the insurance company, I did manage to tie the front bumper back on. Lil’ Green sure had a terrible black eye. Still, no real damage was done.

We headed North on 83 when we caught a glimpse of a hand written sign.

Maple Syrup —-> This Way

We knew we had arrived. As we turned off of the Speed Limit HighWay, ..things.. things… started to, ..well, feel pleasant.

Lil’ Green rode slower. Taking in the view as it Welcomed Us. Rolling green hills.

White puffy clouds.

Amazingly blue sky.

Red barns tucked in by creeks .. ponds .. Breeze flying by .. Circling Lil’ Green ..embracing us. Black buggies pulled by us with the rhythm of a clopping horse.

Soothing sounds pulled in our car windows, being a part of the nature. Birds singing. Cows laying in the field.

How I love this feeling.

This is where I longed to be.

One with the Land.

Not taking or giving.

Just Being.

You Are Invited!

My Mom. She grew up when Kennedy was shot, Martin Luther King stood on the steps and Preached, when the Hippies gathered at Woodstock, and when living in Coal Mines’ Towns was not the sought after places. She learned many things from the “Old Ways” and not because it was Fun to be Thrifty, but on account of It was Necessary to Live. Love you Mom!💗
My Dad. He too grew up on Hard Times. However, you’ll never hear him speak a word of disgust about it. He’s a very Thankful Man. I would dare to say he has Never looked a Gift Horse in the Mouth. Another Thing is his Memory. One of my sister’s has his Gift. But he can Recall and Remember every person he’s just about Ever Met.
